Accelerators for Internet Explorer
Our Windows Live editor is surfing at great speed with Internet Explorer 8's new Accelerators.

Accelerators are another nifty new feature that make up Internet Explorer 8's already impressive arsenal. They are designed to make your browsing experience faster and easier, and to help you complete daily tasks with an air of efficiency usually reserved for 007.
Whether it be looking up driving directions, translating words, or e-mailing a funny article to your friends, each of these tasks requires numerous steps from start to finish. You will often find yourself copying information from one web page, pasting it into another, viewing the results, and then returning to the previous web page to pick up where you left off.

This all changes with Internet Explorer 8's Accelerators. With Accelerators these experiences have been made much simpler; you can use Accelerators to search, map, e-mail, translate, or share content from any web page you’re currently viewing with just one click. A neat little trick I think you'll agree?

See it in action
This editor is currently very impressed with the Accelerator for Multimap.
For instance, say you need to look up the location to a gig/club, the process couldn't be simpler. To use, simply highlight your chosen text (a place name usually helps here).

Next, right-click and navigate your mouse to the Map with Multimap option.
You don't even need to click, just hover it over there.

With any luck you're chosen destination will magically appear in an adjacent window. The beauty lies in never having to leave the page your on.
With such services integrated directly into the browser, you can simply select some text, right-click to select an Accelerator, and immediately be presented with the results.
Alternatively, clicking on the Accelerator name in the menu will take you directly to the Accelerator provider’s website for additional information.
Accelerators you need today
Accelerators are available out of the box from Multimap and MSN Video. In much the same way as the Multimap Accelerator IE8 makes searching for the latest video and viral clips effortless, the MSN Video Accelerator will quickly find relevant content and display the results on a new web page.
